Please introduce yourself, your background, and your company.
I’m one of the co-founders of Finxone, an AI-powered platform that allows anyone to build no-code fintech apps. My background has always been in technology—from missile development to AI.
That’s fascinating! What's your experience like as a female in these heavily male-dominated industries?
Women's leadership, particularly in fintech, remains underrepresented. However, I have seen positive changes in recent years. At Finxone, we’re actively fostering gender diversity by recruiting talented female engineers and promoting women in technology through internship programs.
Yet, I believe there are no inherent barriers; it’s about sparking interest and showcasing opportunities to women. I’m a firm believer that we can do equally well. Women are naturally inclined to be able to do some things even better than men – they excel in multitasking and problem-solving, qualities essential, for instance, in my operational role.
How do you go about empowering women at Finxone?
In hiring, Finxone works closely with universities to promote its internship program among young female professionals with the skill set we look for. I run a mentorship program that supervises their career growth once they join the company. I always try to pass on the lesson not to fear having a voice and speaking up and not succumbing to impostor syndrome.
Why do you think it’s so important to diversify talent?
To me, it all starts internally—the more voices and diverse backgrounds and experiences we represent in our own organisations, the broader customer base we can serve. Finxone is enabling people who won’t necessarily have a technical background (which many women don’t have) to build their apps and bring them to the market. Women are a huge target audience for that type of platform.
Finxone’s leadership team is quite diverse, with people scattered across the globe. We recently hired someone who has a nursing background. Though with no prior fintech background, her skills are very apt to manage a crisis, literally life or death scenarios! Harnessing those skills within Finxone makes our customer experience even better.
What do you think the fintech sector can do better to empower women?
There will never be a single silver bullet that solves a problem. It starts with many little things. But I believe it begins with young talent. It’s crucial to take steps to promote outreach programs with universities and schools. Secondly, I see great power in women supporting women in fintech and beyond, sharing their experiences and knowledge.
